E-MEDIC

The main idea of E-MEDIC is to provide methods and solutions adapted to the specific needs of medical educators. It intends to create a learning platform designed to be very ease-of-use, with targeted content, giving the possibility to medical educators to learn also when they have little spots of time. The aim is to include innovative pedagogies in medical/veterinary education based on project-based learning (PBL), simulation, Competency-based medical education (CBME), and role-play. The learning environment will be designed starting from the paradigms of ubiquitous and mobile learning. The learning contents will be supplied with quick videos, podcasts, and practical experiences, avoiding burdening the learner with a significant amount of data to read.

Milestones

  • A practical review of the best practices applied in medical education starting from online simulations, virtual reality applications, serious games, remote laboratories, live-streaming simulations, mobile-based simulations, etc. The review based on a well-rooted pedagogical framework will report practical examples in order to drive the definition of a learning platform.
  • A series of learning tools (miniMOOCs) aimed at providing to the target groups tools in order to know, understand and apply new methods of distance teaching in medical education. The miniMOOCs will be designed in order to provide rapid info based on the principle of mobile and ubiquitous learning, with an intensive use of micro-videos and few written contents.
  • A serious game, connected to the miniMOOCs, in order to provide a safe environment for the training and the assessment of professors and researchers applying the strategies leaned in the learning area.

Guidelines for reapplication of the model in other fields. It includes the description of the results gathered by the project, the impact of the whole results, and the opportunities of exploitation in other sectors and in other countries of the project model.

Partnership

This project, with a total budget of 400,000€, has been funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission.
